There is tons about the Internet of Things (IoT), we do not know or are not sure of – yet! Mainly concerning its future applicability. Are there indeed trillions of easy profit to gain? Exactly by whom, through what, where, when, why, and how?

A new mobile form-factor is coming and it’s not restricted to your pocket. Wearable tech is all about unleashing the power of smartphones onto new types of devices. While the smartphone and tablet market seem to have devolved into a battle of bigger displays and faster processors, the form-factor for wearables is still open to a diverse range of hardware design, although it’s all about the war for your wrist for now. The overarching goal? Creating highly personalized interactions and experiences.

2013 was the kick-off year for wearable computing (wearables) to take off. Most of the attention went to Google Glass, but during the year the momentum shifted to the smart watch; with the Pebble already serving wrists around the world and the introduction of Samsung Gear and hardware by Sony. 2014 will be even more about smart watches, maybe Google and Apple will join the game. But the kick off for 2014 as year of the smart watch is this week, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014. Even before the event ZTE already made clear they are launching one.
