Realizing Readiness for Resilience (R3)

A robust cybersecurity system is a foundation for a resilient organization

The impact of COVID-19 on the way we work is significant. While remote working prevents us from a threat to health, it increases the threat to a cyber-attack. Remote working has exposed sensitive data to different networks, unsecure systems, and unknown environments, thus posing risk from cyber-attackers, who are hunting at weak spots in the total information chain at the moment, including your company’s part. The biggest challenge is protecting data breaches while continuing smooth operations and uninterrupted business.

Organizations worldwide will now need to realign their cybersecurity measures to manage business efficiently by following a pragmatic, practical approach that can safeguard an organization’s immediate and urgent interests in these uncertain times and set it on a path for long term continuous compliance. Rethinking the cybersecurity landscape and looking at developing a strong, resilient and secure model to enable business continuity is key. This will reduce vulnerability to a cyber-attack and raise our guards paving the path to become a pandemic-proof organization.

Organizations will need to invest in several key initiatives, the most important among those:

  • Developing strategic partnerships,
  • Investing to improve operating flexibility,
  • Encouraging collaboration to empower employees, and
  • Putting in place solid cybersecurity systems.

This will ensure businesses achieve their goals while living in a new, post-pandemic reality. Enabling these changes and realizing the need for readiness to build a resilient organization will help us tide over the current crisis and also prepare us for any untoward incident that may take place in the future.

As the world works together to overcome these times, organizations should leverage this experience to transform into becoming ‘crisis-proof organizations’ that can adapt, pull through and succeed. Business leaders should use this time to realize the need to make long-term, pragmatic, systematic plans to improve their organization’s readiness and thereby build a resilient organization ready for tomorrow. Execute the R3 plan!
