Why the Internet Isn’t Fun Anymore

“The social-media Web as we knew it, a place where we consumed the posts of our fellow-humans and posted in return, appears to be over. […] The Internet today feels emptier, like an echoing hallway, even as it is filled with more content than ever. It also feels less casually informative.”

The author Kyle Chayka has a point. Internet nowadays is completely different than a couple of years ago. For that we only have to watch at the decline of Twitter and Facebook. Social media isn’t social anymore. What worries me most is the content production by AI. Soon the internet won’t be for humans anymore.

“I don’t have time to do anything,” the woman says disconsolately to her phone’s camera, after explaining that she has to get a 7.30 train to work every morning and doesn’t get back until 6.15pm at the earliest. “I want to shower, eat my dinner and go to sleep. I don’t have time or energy to cook my dinner . . . I don’t have energy to work out . . . I’m so upset, like oh my God.”

I think she is right in asking these questions.
