Fusion Man and Machine

August 27, 2013

On the 9th of August 2013 research firm Gartner published the Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies for 2013. Striking is the main message of the report: the evolving relationship between man and machine. The emergence of new technologies redefines this relationship. Or, as Marshall McLuhan once so aptly put it: “We shape our tools and thereafter our tools shape us.” The overall conclusion is that the line between man and machine blurs. It is a direct result of the increased hype around intelligent (self-conscious) machines, cognitive computing and the Internet of Things.   hypecycle-2013-600x375
