A couple of days ago, I was showing the TED talk titled: “How to break bad management habits before they reach the next generation of leaders” by Elizabeth Lyle. This made me realize that a lot of companies are laying huge emphasis on Digital Transformation, but really the point is that many of them are still doing what they did in the beginning. Therefore the conclusion is that they have wasted a lot of money on external consultants only to paint the facade.

In my own case, I know many other companies that are following the schedule provided by an external partner to be compliant with this Digital Transformation. At Sogeti, we work very closely with the customers to avoid these issues and provide real added value in order to achieve the outcome.

That means, we combine aspects like; good understanding of the customer, how the company works, the deviation between old workflow and new standard mode and the mentoring to the department´s responsibility to readapt his / her way of work in order to not “contaminate” the rest of the subordinate employees. In this last topic, I completely agree with the assessment provided by Elizabeth Lyle. This is one of the milestones within Digital Transformation. You have to work hard in front of an outdated management style.

Finally, we manage a very big and productive stack of tools, which brings us the confidence to achieve the project.

If you integrate all these things in order to manage people, process and technology, you are ought to lead in this race, and probably your Digital Transformation journey will be smoother and quicker than other companies in which the fox is guarding the henhouse.
