With organizations across industries—and particularly Gen Z—championing AI as the defining innovation of our era, I feel this is absolutely essential to explore how Artificial Intelligence is shaping the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is designed to help large organizations apply agile methodologies at scale.
The main components of SAFe include Agile Release Train (ART), Program Increment (PI) planning, Lean Portfolio Management, continuous delivery pipeline, roles and responsibilities, and core values.
Agile Release Train – In Sogeti this represents a POD of 5-11 people including Product Owners, developers, shared Scrum Masters, architects and so on. AI adoption is vital in this as it helps our clients with faster /more incisive planning, commit and Execution.
Program Increment – At Sogeti we mandate all our POD owners and everyone who is part of ADDC to go through Mandatory GenAI and AI training/upskilling. This enables us to do AI assisted PI & Preparation. AI also plays a big role in Automated backlog refinement & identifies potential risks & bottlenecks
Lean Portfolio Management – Real-time allocation. We aim to utilize AI to analyze ongoing performance data, customer feedback, and market trends to periodically shift funding across value streams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs). This does away with monolithic legacy annual cycles. Advanced analytics and machine learning can also assess risks, dependencies, and projected outcomes, helping leaders prioritize initiatives that align with strategic goals and deliver maximum value.
Sprint Health analysis – AI can also help us in automated Sprint Health analysis & real time dashboarding
Recently at a customer meeting, we proposed leveraging our Amplifier as a mechanism for enabling ADDC Pods to do all of the above and received positive responses from the client. What impressed us the most was that we see the adoption to be very fast and Agile <-> AI seem to be a marriage made in heaven.
