Hey you creatives! Robots will steal your job

Is a machine able to learn the whole process of creating a painting? That’s what the e-David project of the University of Konstanz is all about (Drawing Apparatus for Vivid Image Display). It is an ordinary robot, which typically is used for manufacturing cars, combined with sensors, a camera and a control computer. The results might influence our perception of what art is – besides the imitation of existing drawing styles the machine might enable new techniques since labor plays no role anymore. This way, very complex visual art works can be created. The software and hardware platform will be open to artists, which can realize art works on a Java-based/processing environment. e-David Robot Painting from eDavid on Vimeo.
