The real hipster announces a monthly detox weekend as his new year resolution in January. But being away from the smartphone for a few days is just as useless as going a weekend to Paris to forget work stress. This is only a treatment for the symptoms and it leads to polarisation and fluctuation of behaviour without tackling the core of the problem. The smartphone has a lot of potential to enrich our lives, but at the moment the mobile device is a glorified slot machine.
