The Internet of School Things

John Kinchin, assistant head teacher at King’s School in Peterbororough (UK), wants to build an “Internet of School Things”. He says that it will allow opportunities to create and develop curriculum materials for science, math, geography, and other subjects which is both more engaging and inspiring for students. A £ 800.000 project, that has been announced recently by the Technology Strategy Board, will help eight schools to achieve that ambition. The project will be led by a consortium that includes Intel, Xively, and some Universities and laboratories. It is hoped that the initiative will prepare students to be active contributors to and beneficiaries of this 21st-century industrial revolution. The ambition behind the project is to roll out the programme across the UK when the trial has proved to be a success.
