Yes. Interesting. I think though that laws will slowly catch up to what is now a complete “wild west”. Most recently the supreme court in the US determined that a warrant was needed to look at the contents of someone’s mobile phone, even it this person was arrested. A small step in the right direction that points at increased sensitivity to privacy issues.
As for cloud: the move to cloud is not going to be stopped by privacy concerns. Privacy is not an issue related to cloud, even though it is often presented as one. Who out there seriously believes that the NSA cannot look into a corporate data center?
